A DIFFERENT PLACE TO BEGIN
Tomorrow, you’ll lead the meeting, answer the questions, and deliver the work. From the outside, your business looks successful. From the inside, you’re wondering how long you can keep running it this way.
You’ve tried the routines, the time blocking, the carefully protected CEO days. Some of it helped—until a client crisis hit, a flare-up changed your capacity, or life refused to follow the plan. Now another abandoned system feels like evidence that you’re the problem.
That means looking beyond the calendar to the expectations, environments, and agreements shaping your days. It means treating your changing energy as useful information. And it means finding ways to make changes within the life you’re already living.
WHAT’S INSIDE
01
The Self-Optimization Trap. The Separation Myth. The Hero Complex. The Performance Prison. The Someday Syndrome.
Explore how these patterns can turn ambition, responsibility, and care into overextension—and learn to recognize them in your own life and business.
02
Wisdom, Environments, Agreements, and Lifestyle: four connected layers that help you understand where your systems are working against your needs.
Examine why a boundary may struggle to hold, how your surroundings shape your choices, and what your routines need to account for.
03
Set an intention. Experiment. Evaluate. Decide.
Begin with a change you can learn from, then use what happens to choose your next step. Build the practice of adjusting your systems as your circumstances change.
04
Personal stories and detailed client journeys explore what it takes to change established ways of working—including the uncertainty, resistance, and adjustments along the way.
The stories return to the years beyond, when circumstances keep shifting and the work keeps evolving.
05
Build flexible routines. Account for preparation and recovery when planning your calendar. Delegate information, context, and authority so every decision doesn’t keep coming back to you.
Use what you learn to make more room for your capacity, your needs, and the life beyond your work.
WHO IT’S FOR
This book is written for founders, creatives, and entrepreneurs, with particular attention to neurodivergence and chronic illness.
You may recognize yourself here if:
—
You’ve built something meaningful, but keeping it running asks more of you than you can sustain.
—
Your routines work under ideal conditions and unravel when your capacity changes.
—
You’re the person everyone relies on, and stepping back feels more complicated than simply saying no.
—
You want to understand your patterns and try changes that account for your actual life.
—
You want your ambition, health, relationships, and identity outside of work to have a place in the same future.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hannah Keyes (she/they) is a writer, systems strategist, and the founder of Eigenkind, a consulting studio for founders and creative entrepreneurs.
Her perspective draws on more than fifteen years across corporate executive support and creative entrepreneurship. Her background includes supporting international luxury-brand executives at Hilton and IT and operations leadership at Williams-Sonoma, alongside running a custom cake studio and a graphic design and hand-lettering practice.
She brings that operational experience together with her lived experience of chronic illness, late-diagnosed neurodivergence, and five cycles of burnout.
Her consulting practice began in 2019. Across her writing and advisory work, she helps people examine what their systems ask of them and build around their real capacity.
Same You, Better Systems is the book she wishes she’d had when she was trying to force herself into ways of working that were never built for her.

For the founder or creative entrepreneur who has spent years pushing themselves to fit systems that were never built with their actual energy, capacity, or life in mind.

Not another productivity book. The last one you'll need to read before other self-help books stop feeling like a waste of time.
It's 2:43 a.m. and you're awake again.
Not because something is wrong with you. Because everything you've been taught about how to build a successful business was designed for a body, brain, and life that isn't yours.
You've tried the routines, the time blocking, the CEO days, even slow productivity. Some of it worked… for a while. Until a client crisis hit, or a flare-up took you out, or your capacity shifted, and all those systems crumbled again.
And somehow, it still feels like the problem is you.

For generations, productivity culture has told us that success looks like machine-like consistency, rigid schedules, and overriding your body's signals in the name of output. And for founders, creatives, and neurodivergent entrepreneurs whose energy, capacity, and lives don't fit that mold?
The cost is chronic exhaustion, shame, and systems that fall apart the moment real life enters the room.
You didn't fail at the system. The system failed you.

The Self-Optimization Trap, Separation Myth, Hero Complex, Performance Prison, and Someday Syndrome. And how to recognize which ones are quietly running your business and burning you out.

A four-layer diagnostic tool for understanding why your past systems kept failing. Plus, how to build ones that actually hold across Wisdom, Environments, Agreements, and Lifestyle.

A way to make sustainable change without overhauling your entire life at once. Designed for people whose systems need to bend rather than break.

Who rebuilt their businesses around their actual energy, capacity, and lives. And a look at what happened years later.

Designed for chaos, chronic illness, neurodivergence, and the messy truth of being human instead of banking on perfect conditions that never arrive.
You've built something real but you're burning out keeping it running.
Every "dream schedule" seems built for someone else's brain and body.
You're ready to stop overriding your capacity and start designing around it.
You're neurodivergent, chronically ill, or simply human, and tired of being punished by your schedule for it.
You want growth that doesn't cost you your health, relationships, or identity outside of work.
Just finished Chapter 1! Love the acknowledgement of the complexities and context. I can clearly see I’m a mixture of self-optimization and hero, those are so clear! And damn, yup, you hit right on the biggest fear… and now I want more! I’m salivating to read the rest!
Designed for chaos, chronic illness, neurodivergence, and the messy truth of being human — not for perfect conditions that never arrive.
